Middle School Debate
Debate fosters critical thinking, enhances public speaking skills, and builds confidence while teaching middle schoolers to listen effectively and engage in civil discourse.
Harvey’s Middle School Debate Team participates in the New York Debate League along with 18 other middle schools from New York City and Westchester County. The league hosts 4 to 6 tournaments on Saturdays from October to June during which three-person teams participate in 4 to 5 debates on different topics. The topics are announced approximately one month in advance of each tournament.
Harvey Middle School students, who won several rounds of debate during the team's first year of membership, are looking forward to continued participation in the league and furthering its success.
Graduates of Harvey Middle School have gone on to join Model UN in the Upper School.
