How to Apply
Choosing the right school is an exciting and important endeavor. At Harvey, the admissions process is all about finding the proper fit. We want applicants and their families to get to know us as we learn about each candidate’s talents, goals, and readiness for our dynamic academic environment.
While there is no typical Harvey student, the desire to take intellectual risks and challenge themselves in academics, the arts, and athletic pursuits is a common attribute. We actively seek to enroll engaged, goal-oriented students who are academically prepared, intellectually curious, appreciate the value of persistence and hard work, and are motivated to contribute positively to our school’s community.
Harvey is more than just a place where your child will learn math, English and science. Like you, we are interested in an education that focuses on building and instilling character values. To this end, Harvey takes a holistic approach to the admissions process in which each applicant's academic record, progress in school, teacher recommendations, personal attributes, and special interests are carefully evaluated by our Admissions Committee. To support this approach, we are asking your child to take The Character Skills Snapshot as part of their application. This will enrich the information we have about them and show us areas where our community can help them grow and thrive.
If you have not previously done so, please complete and submit our online inquiry form. This will add your family to our mailing list to receive information regarding admissions, campus news, and upcoming school events.
You don’t have to wait for your interview day to visit us. No matter where you are in your process, we would love to meet you and show you our campus! Please consider attending an admissions event or take a small group tour.
The application deadline is February 1st. In order to receive a first round decision by February 23rd, all required application materials must be on file with the Admissions Office by February 8th. Applications received after February 1st or completed after February 8th will be considered on a rolling basis.

A non-refundable fee of $50 is due with the application.

All applicants are required to take the Character Skills Snapshot for which there is a $25 fee. If you are planning to have your child take the SSAT (NOT REQUIRED BY HARVEY SCHOOL),this will include access to take The Snapshot at no extra cost. You must register for the SSAT first. Students who do not take the SSAT will receive email notification of access to the CSS once we receive your online application.
Applicants may opt to submit the following scores for the Admissions Committee’s consideration - these tests are not required:
Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT)
Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE)
PSAT, SAT, ACT (may be submitted for applicants to grades 11 and 12)
Applicants may also submit the results of any educational testing and/or evaluations that they would like the admissions committee to consider.
An interview is a required part of the admission process. Upon our receipt of your completed application form, we will contact you to arrange separate (back-to-back) interviews with the applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s). This gives the Admission Officer a chance to get to know the applicant and their family. You can expect the interview process to take about an hour.
Candidates and families that have not already visited the campus may also arrange for a tour following their interview.
- Provide Writing Sample
When students come for their interview they will also be asked to complete a writing sample. Students may opt to submit an additional essay if they would like.
