Harvey is a friendly and culturally diverse community with a small and growing International Student Program. Currently, approximately 5% of our Upper School students are international.
International students are an integral part of our student body, participating in the same academic courses, after school activities, clubs, athletics, and student leadership opportunities as do all Harvey students. They enjoy the same benefits as their domestic peers, including personalized college counseling, individual extra help, and field trips that broaden their own perspectives. Please note that Harvey does not offer ESL instruction, and requires all entering international students to complete an English reading/writing workshop during their first year.
Our 5-day boarding program allows our international students the opportunity to experience an authentic American secondary-school life. On weekends, international students stay with local host families, many of whom are Harvey families themselves. This arrangement provides a rich experience at home as well as school, immersing students fully in American language and culture.
The Harvey School encourages English proficient students in grades 9-12 from all over the world to consider joining our thriving student body.
In addition to the standard application requirements, which include transcripts from their current school, students must submit at least two recommendation letters (one from an English teacher), and an interview. International students are required to submit their TOEFL scores (75 or above is strongly desired), and a written statement on how they would benefit from a Harvey education.
International students (grades 9-12) with questions about applying to The Harvey School, please contact Ms. Alex Lindquist, Director of International Programs at 914-232-3161 ext. 160 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
PLEASE NOTE: The Harvey School has partnered with the Cambridge Institute of International Education to manage all applications from students from the People’s Republic of China. All mainland Chinese students interested in applying to Harvey should contact the Cambridge Institute at email@example.com.
If you are ready to apply now, and you are not a mainland Chinese student, you may proceed to our online application.
