Buchmueller Tosses No-Hitter
Posted 04/18/2017 10:32AM

Anna Buchmueller entered the Harvey history books Monday, April 17, by throwing a no-hitter at home against Marvelwood in a varsity softball game. The junior hurler struck out 13 in Harvey’s 16-1 victory, the team’s first win after opening the season with four losses.

Buchmueller threw 90 pitches, 51 strikes and 39 balls in recording the no-hit gem. Only five Marvelwood batters reached base, four on walks and one on a hit-by-pitch. Buchmueller allowed the one run when a Marvelwood batter reached base on a walk, stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch.

Harvey batters collected five hits. Tillie Glucksman had a single and led Harvey with four RBI. Chloe Pinto had a hit and knocked in three while Kathryn Ogg, who also singled, had two RBI.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Harvey put the game out of reach with a 10-run second inning. The umpires invoked the mercy rule and called the game after five innings.
