Harvey Students Explore Japanese Culture with Keio Academy
Posted 04/07/2018 11:30PM
On Tuesday, April 3, 26 students from the Keio Academy visited the Harvey school to continue the exchange that was started back in February when 24 Harvey students visited the Keio Academy of Purchase, New York. In most cases the Harvey student was paired with the same Keio student that they were paired with back in February, thus allowing relationships to deepen. The Keio students arrived on campus at 9:30 a.m. and were then paired with their Harvey partner whom they shadowed for the rest of the day. After a wonderful day of interactions, cultural discovery and fun, the Keio students left around 3:45 p.m. If the smiles on the faces, and the number of contact information exchanged was any indication, it was a spectacular day.
The Keio students also invited the Harvey students to the Keio Academy for their annual School Festival which occurred Saturday, April 7. Several Harvey students took advantage of the invitation and made the trip to Purchase to learn more about Japanese culture and meet up with the Japanese friends they had made through this exchange program.
"I am so happy to see the success of this exchange," said Japanese teacher Tim Cornell. "I hope that the friendships made here will continue on and ignite in our Harvey students a desire to learn more about this important and fascinating country."
