Seniors marked 100 days until graduation with a celebration Feb.27 which allowed them time to have a little fun with their fellow classmates, and also prepare for life after Harvey. Students started the day in the Commons with a senior gift - markers and T-shirts which they could sign as a keepsake. At lunch, the group headed over to Lasdon Theater, all awash in red, white, and green to represent the theme of the day, "A Taste of Italy." Students were treated to an authentic Italian meal provided by Sinapi's in Bedford Hills. Harvey's own Chef Lee provided beverages and "make your own" sundaes for dessert.
There were plenty of fun activities including a photo booth, and a special appearance by comedienne/improv/storyteller Christine O'Leary, who invited student volunteers to get up onstage and act out scenarios they may encounter in college, demonstrating conflict and then resolution. While it provided a lot of laughs, it also gave the students a chance in a relaxed environment to deal with some real-life issues and release any anxiety they might have.
College counselors Ms. Cahill and Ms. Meadows provided an open forum for a question-and-answer session about college, and Head of Upper School Mr. Lazarro wrapped up the day with some words of wisdom for the Class of 2018.
The seniors received a second senior gift from the Senior Class parents: a Class of 2018 sackbag with a blanket inside and some meaningful treats (Hershey kisses because they are loved, Smarties because they are smart, and Starburst because they are all stars). We will surely savor every moment as we count down to the Class of 2018 graduation.
Many thanks to those mentioned above, along with: Senior Class parents Jennifer Lunder, Laura Dahm and Cyndi Mallon; senior parents Ann & John Albert, Lori Peraglia, Wendy McLean, Deb Alexander, Mary Alice Puente, Lois Tebbutt, Jennifer McMorrow, Pamela Buchmueller; and Vivid Events.
