The skies were blue, the sun was shining, and Harvey Spirit was on full display at Homecoming 2017 Saturday, October 21. The day's events kicked off at 11 a.m. with our Homecoming Day football game vs. Horace Mann School. The boys played hard and put up a good fight despite the result on the scoreboard (0-21 loss). The Farmers' Market showcased a wide variety of goods, including Siegel Bros., La Petite Occasion, Big Bang Coffee, Alivio Olive Oil, Shame on Jane, Boxed Water, Color Street Nails, Pure Haven, Harvey Honey, and Harvey Spirit Wear. The Harvey Community Service Club raised funds for A Kids' Brain Tumor Cure-PLGA Foundation, while the PAAC Club (People Against Animal Cruelty) assisted Mr. Bones & Co. with pet adoption. Everyone welcomed Mr. Bones adorable rescue dogs, and we're happy to report a dog was adopted from Harvey Homecoming, and is now in his forever home!
Homecoming also brought back alumni to celebrate the Hall of Fame Inductions of Seth Morton '57, Vince DeSomma '77, Susan Moore Nicolari '87, and Doniella McKoy '07. Alumni events continued all afternoon, giving alums the opportunity to visit with their classmates and tour the Harvey campus. They were even treated to a special robotics demonstration by technology teacher John Wahlers. An evening alumni dinner followed at Westmoreland Sanctuary.
For the sports fans, games were played throughout the day featuring boys and girls varsity soccer, boys JV soccer, and varsity and JV volleyball matches, all vs. Forman School. A delicious lunch was provided by our own Chef Lee on the lower field. Children of all ages (including those kids at heart) climbed the bouncy castle, and pumpkins were decorated and painted in true fall spirit. The festivities would not have been complete without the relaxing country vibe of The Dog House Band.
Thanks to all who attended and filled Homecoming 2017 with so much Harvey Pride!
