Art Camp

2026 Art Camp Program

Grades 5-8

Campers will discover the depths and dimensions of a number of mediums in the visual arts. With a variety of art classes each week, campers will paint, draw, sculpt, and explore the arts through the use of different materials and methods.

To broaden their experience, campers will take elective classes outside of the visual arts as well as participate in games and camp-wide events. While it is important to pursue individual passions, the electives will give campers a chance to try something new. Exploration sparks new passions.

A sample of class offerings can be found below.

Meet The Director

Photo of Dan Kreiness

Dr. Dan Kreiness is a camp "lifer" and career educator who has spent nearly all of his summers at camp since he was a child. He is honored to lead Harvey Summer Camp, a program he believes is truly special for the way it helps campers grow, discover new strengths and interests, and succeed in ways that extend far beyond traditional classrooms. With almost four decades of experience, his passion for summer camp stems from a desire to deliver fun and fulfilling experiences to kids of all ages. Dan's own camp journey began as a camper at a northern Westchester day camp, where he later worked as a group counselor, activity specialist, and administrator before joining Harvey Summer Camp in 2017.

During the school year, Dan serves as an instructional coach at Norwalk High School in Norwalk, Connecticut. He has worked in education for two decades as a school administrator, instructional coach, intervention specialist, and classroom teacher in several districts across the New York City metro area and Connecticut. His expertise in teaching and leadership has led to numerous opportunities to write, present, and consult on topics related to instructional practice, educational technology, and effective leadership. Dan holds a doctorate in leadership and master’s degrees in educational leadership and adolescent education.
