Volleyball Advances to HVAL Semifinals

Harvey’s varsity volleyball team defeated Watkinson School 3-1 Monday, Nov. 7, at home in the quarterfinal round of the HVAL playoffs.

Harvey, the No. 3 seed, held off No. 6 seed Watkinson, 25-22, in the first set, with a strong performance by Sophie Peters as she perfectly served each ball. The Cavs notched a 25-20 victory in the second set to go up 2-0.

Looking for the sweep, the Harvey girls battled the Rams in the third set before falling 26-24. The Cavs then rebounded to take the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.

"We had a good home win," said Harvey coach Michelle Menacho. "The girls had some impressive serves and good communication, which continues improving with each game. We’re very excited to continue in the semifinals of the playoffs."

The Cavs’ victory came on Senior Day as the squad recognized the seniors for all their hard work throughout the season.

In a schedule change, Harvey will now face No. 2 seed Forman in a semifinal Thursday, Nov 10, at 4:30 p.m. in Litchfield, Connecticut.
