Varsity Season Ends with Semifinal Loss

Varsity volleyball action 2022

Harvey’s varsity volleyball season came to an end Thursday, Nov. 10, with a 3-0 loss to Forman in an HVAL playoff semifinal in Litchfield, Connecticut.

Even though the No. 2 seed Cavaliers lost the first and second sets by identical 25-14 scores, they had a great start with some strong serving from sophomores Giselle Grant and Sophie Peters. Fellow sophomore Emily Sorio also had some great blocks at the net. The Cavs lost the third set 25-18 to give the No. 2 seed Lions the opportunity to advance to the championship game.

"It was a tough ending to a great season," Harvey coach Denis Arnautovic said. "I'm very proud of the girls because of the way they improved and competed. We were a very young team this year and most of our impact players are returning next year which will make us even more competitive.”

Coach Arnautovic singled out senior captain Kira Ortega and juniors Iliana Hellinger and Gabriela Pastor Iriarte to thank them for providing strong leadership.

The Cavs finish 7-5 against HVAL opponents and 9-13 overall.
