Varsity Boys Fall to Falcons of Riverdale

Harvey’s boys varsity basketball team lost 66-39 Monday, Jan. 30, to a red hot visiting Riverdale Country Day School squad.

The Cavs led in the opening minutes but then trailed for the rest of the game. Riverdale, shooting a remarkably high percentage from the field, made baskets from all corners of the floor. The Falcons built up a 41-21 lead in the first half and outscored the Cav 25-18 in the second half to seal the victory.

Harvey coach Connor Welles took a positive out of the loss to the nonleague team. “This tough opponent should get our boys ready to play the heart of our league schedule,” Coach Welles said.

The leading scorers for Harvey were Kirk Ortega with seven points, Suki Vongveeranonchai with six, and Myles Feldman with five.

The Cavs, 5-7 overall and 4-1 in the HVAL, take on two league rivals this week,  Christian Heritage Wednesday and Watkinson Friday.
