Harvey’s Middle School volleyball team defeated Windward School 2-1 in White Plains Wednesday, Nov. 6 to improve their season record to a spotless 6-0.
In what Harvey coach Michelle Menacho called “the most challenging game the team has come across this season,” the Cavs put up a fight in the first set before falling to their Windward opponents, 25-23. Brydie Groff and O'Launi Ebanks helped the team during the first set by displaying their outstanding serving skills.
The second set was all Harvey as the Cavs posted a 25-10 victory which featured a great save by Karen Dey.
The Cavs were neck and neck all throughout the third set and had the crowd on their feet cheering them on. After incredible plays by Sam Roberts, Jadyn Lurie, and Isolda Corena, Harvey prevailed in a 25-22 victory.
Coach Jones said, "The team worked so hard to achieve a well deserved win ,” said Harvey coach Octavia Jones. “Both the girls on the court and the girls on the sidelines showed great sportsmanship," Coach Jones added. The coach lauded Sabine Weiss, Scarlett Ledonne, Catalina Dragan, Ruby Cayer, and Sam Doughty for cheering for their team all throughout the game.
In their final match of the fall, the Cavs will face Masters School Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Dobbs Ferry at 3:30 p.m.
