The Harvey Middle School volleyball team defeated Rye Country Day School Tuesday, Oct. 29, notching a 3-0 victory on their home court in their fifth game of the season.

Harvey dominated RCDS in the first set, winning it 25-7. The Cavs were led with the help of Jadyn Lurie and Drew Scarfone who served the ball perfectly five times in a row.

In the second set, the Cavs racked up a 25-16 victory on the strength of some great plays by Sam Roberts and Leah Djukic.

The Cavs were neck and neck with RCDS during the beginning of the third set before the Cavs  stormed ahead to secure a 25-17 win with the help of strong serving by Carmen Perez.

Throughout the game, coaches Octavia Jones and Michelle Menacho were keeping a close eye out for the player who would be most worthy of the Spotlight Game’s Sportsmanship Award. After making the difficult decision, the coaches selected Isolda Corena as the recipient of the award.

Coach Menacho said, "Every single player on the team has shown great sportsmanship during each game, but Isolda really stood out as she is always cheering on her teammates from the sidelines or on the court, and she is always attentive to the game."

The Cavs, now 5-0 on the season, will face Windward School at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6 in White Plains.
