The Harvey Middle School soccer team came very close to posting a victory in the season opener Monday, Sept. 23 at home versus Eagle Hill. The Cavaliers ended the day with a hard-fought tie at 2-2.

Although the Cavs started the first half off strong offensively, they had trouble finishing on several different scoring opportunities in the opening half. Johann Fueting put Harvey on the board first with a goal midway through the first half.  Defensively, the Cavaliers were anchored by Jasper Pons-Beltsyk, Will Fottrell, and Elias Hajem throughout the game.

After regrouping at halftime tied 1-1, the Cavaliers took the lead when Emerson Sanchez scored midway through the second half. Hank Gilbert withstood an aggressive offensive attack by Eagle Hill, but  the Cavaliers let in a goal with minutes to go that tied the game up.

Matteus Steins, Brandon Litosfky, and Matt Schenck were all positive contributors and helped keep the game within reach during the second half.

The Cavaliers hope to get their first win of the season in a game against Windward Thursday, Oct. 10.
