READ ALL ABOUT IT

On a sunny, crisp spring day, Thursday, April 9, the Harvey Middle School baseball team traveled to The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry for the first baseball game of the year. It turned out to be an excellent display of baseball by the boys from Harvey, who dominated in every aspect of the game and returned home with a 16-0 victory.

Harvey got a dominating performance from starting pitcher Elias Hajem, who struck out eight of the nine batters he faced in his three innings of work and did not allow a hit. Elias also led the offense, going 3-3 with two doubles and six RBIs. Also shining at the plate were Caleb Osnoss, who went 3-3 with an RBI and a couple of stolen bases, and Damon Bugenhagen, who came up with a clutch two-run single, driving in two runs in the first inning, thus setting the tone for the day.

Several Harvey players were playing baseball for the first time, but the Cavaliers showed good discipline at the plate, drawing 13 walks from the Masters’ pitchers, leading to many opportunities for scoring.

Coach Tim Cornell was impressed with the overall team spirit. “I thought everyone was supportive of each other, leading to excellent team togetherness,” Coach Cornell said, adding, “It was a great day to begin the season, and I am excited to continue to build on this victory."

The Middle School boys will hope to continue their momentum Tuesday, April 14 when they visit Sacred Heart in Greenwich, Connecticut.
