Top student-athletes Spring Term 2025

Harvey’s athletics department has selected the top male and female students-athletes of the 2025 spring season. Director of Athletics Ray Lacen has announced that senior Jackson Saccomanno and sophomore Sarah Fisher are the honorees this spring. Each achieved the highest academic honors while competing at a high level in their varsity sport.

Saccomanno was the leading scorer of the boys lacrosse team and its co-captain. Selected HVAL All-League and All-NEPSAC this spring, he was also named by his coaches as the team’s MVP on offense after leading the Cavaliers to become the runners-up for the HVAL championship. During his final season as a Cavalier, Saccomanno reached a major personal offensive milestone when he recorded his 200th career point.

The head coach of Harvey’s boys lacrosse team, Tom Smith ’16, described Saccomanno as “the definition of a student-athlete.” Coach Smith said, “Jackson was dominant on the lacrosse field, but also greatly succeeded in the classroom. I’m proud of his academic success and I am excited to see him continue his academic performance at Clemson University.”

A co-captain and co-MVP of the girls varsity tennis team, Sarah Fisher had an outstanding spring season and academic term. She was an HVAL All-League player who capped off her stellar season by capturing her second straight HVAL doubles championship, once again winning it with her court partner Arabella Serfilippi.

Tim Cornell, head coach of the girls varsity tennis team, was delighted to learn that his team’s doubles champion was selected the spring term’s top female student-athlete. “Not only is Sarah a fierce competitor on the court, but she is also the nicest person you will come across,” Coach Cornell said. “Sarah exudes a positive attitude, has a stellar work ethic, and her sportsmanship is always top notch,” he said, adding, “She does all of this while carrying a difficult academic load.”

In making the announcement, Mr. Lacen said, “Their outstanding performances in both their studies and in their spring sports make Jackson and Sarah most deserving of being selected as our top student-athletes of the spring,” he said, adding, “The entire Harvey community congratulates the two of them for their achievements and greatly appreciates their contributions to the school’s athletic program.”
