The Harvey ski team traveled Wednesday, Jan. 15 to Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall, Connecticut, to compete in downhill ski racing in the Berkshire Hudson Ski League. The other teams competing were Dutchess Day School, Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Rumsey Hall, Marvelwood, and Washington Montessori School.

The field totaled 68 racers in a giant slalom race, which involves racers skiing around fixed gates as fast as possible. Each racer gets two runs down the course, and the lowest total time wins.

The best results from Harvey came from the team’s top three racers, ninth grader Cooper Anthony and sophomores Graham Casey and Whitney Brooks. Anthony finished in 10th place, Casey at No. 11, and Brooks at No 17.

This was the first of four races the Harvey Ski Team will participate in during the regular season of the BHSL. The Harvey ski team fielded 10 racers, many racing for their first time.

“We look forward to building on a solid first race this season,” said Harvey ski coach Simon Leibovic.

The ski team’s next race is Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Catamount.
