Harvey’s girls basketball team returned to action Tuesday, Feb, 10 after five days away from competition, and scored an impressive 61-20 victory over Wooster on the Generals’ home court in Danbury.

The Cavs didn't start firing on all cylinders until the second quarter despite building a 12-2 lead by the end for the first quarter. They were just missing on a number of their shots otherwise it could have been a much bigger lead. “Everyone was having trouble with getting their shots to fall,” said Harvey coach Hannah Paul. “But once we started to attack the basket strong and get in the flow, it opened up the floor for the five on the floor,” the coach said.

The Cavs saw their offense explode in the second quarter, outscoring the Generals by 19 points to take a 35-6 lead into halftime.

The offense continued to dominate in the second half as both the offense and defense were clicking. “We were patient and controlled on both offense and defense, and it worked in our favor,” Coach Paul said.

Coach Paul said the big lead allowed the Cavs to experiment on defense. “Defensively, we switched it up a lot to see what works best for us and against specific teams and how to throw them off.” Wooster scored only 14 points in the second half.

Leading the Harvey offense were junior forward Sydney Boothe with 22, senior point guard Peyton Forde with 20, and senior center Amani Carty with 11.

The Cavs, now 7-3 in the HVAL and 12-5 overall, have another long layoff before they play again. On Friday, Feb. 20, they will travel to Dobbs Ferry to take on Masters, a nonleague team the Cavs had beaten by 10 in a low-scoring game in January.
