The Harvey track and field team competed at the Hopkins School Meet, Wednesday, May 13, for a non-scoring competition against athletes from the host school, Cheshire, Greenwich Country Day, and Westover. The meet went well, with multiple top-3 finishes by Harvey athletes.

For the girls, event winners included senior captain Mollie Weisberger in the 200-meter dash, running a season best 29.37, sophomore Vivienne Stoller winning the 1500 in a season best 5:44.22, and seventh grader Charlotte Orr winning the high jump, clearing 4ft 4in. Ninth grader Rachel Hayes placed No. 3 in the triple jump, leaping a personal-best 26ft 3.5 in, while junior Caitlin Savitt finished No. 2 in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, earning season-best times of 20.47 and 59.03, respectively.

On the boys' side, earning second-place finishes were senior Piotr Pajewski in the discus (89ft 4in), sophomore Evan Talenfeld in the javelin (92ft 3in), and sophomore Darron Yelling in the high jump (4ft 8in.  Sophomore Adam Hajem raced to a third-place personal best in the 800-meter, running 2:15.46, and senior captain O'Neil Ellis demolished the 300 hurdles school record by six seconds in his first time trying it, running 52.26.

Harvey coach Christian Coscio described the results as “a solid day for our athletes.” The coach said, “For most of the team, it was the last meet, and they finished their season on a positive note. Plenty of our athletes earned season and personal best marks. The best race of the day for us had to be the boys' 800-meter, with Adam Hajem leading the way, and Chen Yan (2:26.56), Tagore Perez (2:29.37), Sebastian Swindell (2:35.91), and Ryan Korhammer (2:46.76) also earning personal best times. Sebastian and Ryan did so, having run personal bests in the 400m about 20 minutes earlier as well, showing great toughness and mental fortitude.”.

Sophomore Emily Bigman earned Harvey's Sportsmanship Spotlight Award.

A small crew of qualifying athletes will head to Marianapolis Prep Saturday, May 15 for the NEPSTA Championship.
