The seven seniors on Harvey’s boys varsity basketball team were the stars Thursday, Feb. 13, as their coaches and their younger teammates saluted them for their years of service to the program following another league victory. The Cavs beat HVAL rival Forman 86-38 to make the final regular season home game extra special. Harvey sits alone atop the HVAL standings with a 9-0 league record. The Cavs are 14-3 overall.

The game itself featured a dominant Cavs team that controlled the game from the tip-off, took a comfortable lead very early in the game, and continued to build on it till the end. Senior guard Daniel Bussey led the offense with 20 points. Fellow seniors Jackson Saccomanno and Jonah Kass had 13 points apiece, and freshman Derek Lugo chipped in 11.

In addition to Bussey, Saccomanno, and Kass, their four senior teammates Cade Gilligan, Rohan Singh, Brandon Levine, and William Bland also shared the limelight in the on-court Senior Day celebration. They were introduced by juniors Piotr Pawel Pajewski and Cameron Powell-Spruils.

Harvey head coach Denis Arnautovic was happy to see the recognition of the team’s most veteran players. “Each senior got their well-deserved praise,” Coach Arnautovic said. “We are very grateful to them and their families for all they have done for our program.”

The Cavs return to action Tuesday, Feb. 18, when they travel to Danbury to take on Wooster in a game that concludes their regular season schedule against HVAL opponents. The Cavs will be the No.1 seed in the HVAL playoffs.
