Harvey’s track and field team ended its 2026 season on a high note Wednesday, May 20, at the NYSAIS championship meet on Randall’s Island in New York City. The boys 4x800-meter relay team’s 12th place finish and ninth grader Ally Zimmerman’s 11th place performance capped off another fine spring for Harvey’s track and field team.

The highlight of the meet for Harvey was the boys' 4x800-meter relay team of sophomores Adam Hajem, Chen Yan, and Sebastian Swindell, and freshman Tagore Perez who performed very well together to set a school-record time of 9:52.09.

“Our boys' relay ran particularly well at the hottest time of the competition,” said Harvey coach Christian Coscio. The coach shared this report of their performance. “Adam ran a tough lead-off leg, which gave the team a good position in the race. Chen dealt with a loose shoe that slowed him down on lap 1, but after ditching it about 460 meters into the race, he had an excellent kick to set up Tagore's third leg. Tagore ran a gutsy leg, responding to his coaches and passing a team en route to a strong personal best. At the final exchange, Sebastian was set up well and really pushed himself, earning a strong personal best performance, securing the school record along the way, and taking down one of the original records set in our first year as a program.”

Coach Coscio said he was "extremely proud” of the four Harvey athletes, saying, “They proved  that hard work pays off.” He went on to say, “Their training efforts set them up well and allowed us to feel confident in competing at the NYSAIS meet. Their goal was to take down the record, and each relay leg did its job to achieve it.”

On the girls’ side, Zimmerman in the 800-meter race was Harvey’s best finisher of the day at No. 11 with a time of 2:27.95.
