Varsity Ski Team Opens Season with Success

Harvey’s varsity ski team had a successful first meet Wednesday when seven Cavaliers hit the slopes at Hillsdale, New York’s Catamount Ski Area in a race against skiers from three other squads in the Berkshire Hudson Ski League (BHSL).

In the first of six races slated this winter, Harvey’s two senior captains placed very well in the field of 45 skiers. Sebastian Wallach placed first with the combined time of 63.91 seconds for his two runs, and Alex Breitenbach placed sixth with a combined time of 67.99 seconds.

In the first week of BHSL rankings, Harvey holds third place in the league with 15 points, just three points behind the two leaders tied for first, Housatonic Valley Regional High School and Rumsey Hall. Points are awarded based on the number of top-10 finishes. Kildonan is the No. 4-ranked team.

Harvey’s next race will be Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Butternut in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
