The boys on Harvey’s varsity basketball team treated their home fans to an exciting 61-57 victory Wednesday in the Fenstermacher Athletic Center.

Harvey had trouble in the first half in a slow-paced offense that saw the Cavs and visiting Highlanders tied 21-21 at intermission. “We didn’t push the ball in the first half and had problems scoring in the half court,” said Harvey coach Denis Arnautovic.

The Cavs made an adjustment in the second half, speeding up the tempo and playing a zone press which seemed to give them a burst of energy. The Cavs also got hot on the free-throw line which helped them maintain their lead and close out the victory.

Three Cavs scored in double figures. Everton Browne led Harvey with 20 points. Ryan Horowitz contributed 13 and Syrreal Watson added 10. Treshawn Felder and Mason McComb made some clutch baskets. Felder had nine points while McComb chipped in seven.

The Cavs improve to 3-4 and look to even their record after the winter break with a home game Jan. 9, against Christian Heritage.
