MS Runners Fare Well in First XC Meet

Harvey Middle School runners enjoyed some solid success in their first cross-country meet of the season, Thursday, Sept. 30.

Harvey, one of five schools to compete in the meet held at Tod’s Point in Old Greenwich, saw seven of its runners finish in the top 25 in a race that featured more than 60 runners.

Harvey’s top runner was Micah Berni who placed No. 6. Evan Vasile came in at No. 11. Rounding out the rest of Harvey’s top 25 were Cameron Powell-Spruils, at 17, Aidan Garcia right behind at 18, Sophia Kimmel, 23, Lilah Groff, 24, and Jordan Collins at 25. Following right behind Jordan was Beatrix Mackil at No. 26, with Nicholas Ritenis at 28, and Ruth Doran at 28. Others who finished the course were Neal Mistri at No.33, Conor Shepard, at No. 40, Demetrios Condax, 44, Lee Birch, 49, and Ethan Wecksell, 55.    

The Harvey runners competed against participants from the four other schools --Brunswick, Greenwich Academy, Masters, and RCDS.

Harvey coach Doug Plaskett praised the team’s runners for an overall fine team effort and thanked the many families who came to support and cheer on the runners on a bright sunny day.
