International Student Program
A Real American Experience.
Our international students are an integral part of our student body, participating in the same academic courses, after-school activities, clubs, athletics, and student leadership opportunities as do all Harvey students.
Every student receives personalized college counseling and individual extra help and participates in field trips that broaden their own perspectives.
Our 5-day boarding program allows our international students the opportunity to experience an authentic American secondary-school life. On weekends, international students stay with local host families, many of whom are Harvey families themselves. This arrangement provides a rich experience at home as well as in school, immersing students fully in American language and culture.
The Harvey School encourages English-proficient students in grades 9-12 from all over the world to consider joining our thriving student body.
The Harvey campus is nestled in the historic and scenic Hudson River Valley about an hour -- by train or by car -- from New York City, with its world-famous museums, theater, shopping, and cuisine. Katonah is a classic American small town with tree-lined streets and Victorian-era houses. Its town center is a blend of quaint and cosmopolitan restaurants and shopping.
The International Student Program is the "right size," so students from abroad identify with the international students while feeling an integral and valued part of the overall Harvey family.
With a typical class size of 10, students receive individualized attention from passionate teachers who inspire and challenge them to reach their full potential.
The Harvey School is located on an expansive 125-acre campus. Campus features include:
- numerous academic and residential buildings
- Evarts Ice Rink
- The Walker Center for the Arts
- Fenstermacher Athletic Center
- eight athletic fields
- six tennis courts
- outdoor basketball court
- nature trails
- biology pond
Harvey is a friendly and culturally diverse community.
Harvey international students are paired with host families who welcome students home on weekends to experience the rhythms of everyday American family life. This expands students' support networks and broadens their exposure to U.S. culture and traditions. As part of a family, students participate in routine activities such as grocery shopping and watching movies, as well as going on special outings like a weekend ski trip in nearby Vermont or a visit to New York City.
International students join U.S. students to form a strong community in Harvey's five-day boarding program. One-third of Harvey teachers live on campus, making extra help easily available during evening study hours. Four faculty supervise each dorm of 15-20 students and are valued mentors in the daily happenings of school life.
