Wells Speech Contest
The Wells Speech Contest is an annual schoolwide competition for all students in grades 6-12 that begins in the English classroom and culminates in front of the entire student body.
All students in grades 6-12 write a three to five-minute speech on a persuasive topic of their choice and hone their public speaking skills while delivering their speech in class.
Two students from each grade are then chosen to present in the final round to the entire student body.
A winner is selected by an esteemed panel of judges with areas of expertise in writing and public speaking.
By growing accustomed to speaking in front of an audience, students develop a confidence that extends into all aspects of their lives, both inside and outside the classroom.
