Poetry Recitation Contest
The Michael Lopes Poetry Recitation Contest is an annual schoolwide competition for all students in grades 6-12 that begins in the English classrooms and culminates in front of the entire student body.
The poetry recitation contest calls for students to deliver a published poem of fourteen lines or more as they work on elocution and body language, showcasing their understanding and analysis of poetry.
Two students from each grade are chosen to present in the final round for the entire student body.
A winner is selected by an esteemed panel of judges with areas of expertise in writing and public speaking.
