Innovative Programs
Harvey's Innovative Programs are unique to a Harvey education, challenging our students to learn how to better investigate, communicate, design, create, explore, and lead.
SCIENCE TRAJECTORIES
Our immersive and challenging ninth grade science program was developed by the Harvey faculty and is designed to inspire scientific inquiry, generate a passion for the sciences, and provide a positive scientific experience for students.
ROBOTICS PROGRAM
Our students design, build, and code robots in our award-winning, innovative, hands-on STEAM program. With two dedicated robotics labs in our Middle and Upper Schools, our teams have won more than 95 state, regional, national, and world awards and championships.
HARVEY G.O.E.S.
Our students partner with a school abroad and collaborate on an interactive research project outside the United States in this theme-based exchange program.
JAPANESE LANGUAGE STUDY
This unique language offering helps students stand out to colleges and future employers. Harvey partners with the Keio Academy of New York, a local Japanese School, and offers travel to sister schools in Tokyo and Hiroshima.
WELLS SPEECH CONTEST
This schoolwide competition (grades 6-12) challenges students to write a three-to-five minute speech on a persuasive topic of their choice.
POETRY RECITATION CONTEST
The Michael Lopes Poetry Recitation Contest is an annual schoolwide competition (grades 6-12) that begins as an assignment in the English classroom and culminates as a recitation in front of the entire student body.
COMMON GROUND
In this interdisciplinary course, students in their first year of high school begin to build an understanding of their place in the natural world, the Harvey community and beyond, and the interconnected landscape of learning. Through elements of science, literature, the arts, and history, students have the opportunity to experience, question, and create through collaboration, communication, inquiry, and reflection - foundational skills for academics and community.
SENIOR BRIDGE SEMINAR
Our seniors gain experience using design thinking to develop and maintain an action plan to meet academic and personal challenges inherent in both senior year and their transition to college. Students also research and present a Senior Independent Learning Project.
