The Upper School Winter Dance Concert was a celebration of movement, mood, and mystique, as the dancers transitioned effortlessly from one piece to the next with grace and fluidity on the Lasdon stage Feb. 15.
Nine dance pieces allowed the student dancers to showcase their wide range of dance styles including tumbling, lifts, and human staircases. Harvey dance teacher Leighann Kowalsky choreographed five of the dance numbers, with junior Karina Mehta choreographing and dancing in a piece set to music by Jefferson Airplane.
Senior Lyndsey Koch danced a solo to “Stay” with music by Gracie Adams and in a duo performance with junior Lily Acrish to the piece “Home” choreographed by Ms. Kowalsky with music by Cinematic Orchestra. Dancers Sienna Colgan ‘27 and Elena Pagan ‘26 also collaborated as a duo in “Orbit” choreographed by Ms. Kowalsky with music by James Blake.
Larger ensemble dances featured music by Nico Muhly, Nadia Sirota, Lorne Balfe, Shallou, Lo-Fang, Tevin Campbell, and Rosie Gaines.
In addition to the dancers mentioned above, these ensemble pieces included dancers Conrad Breede ‘26, Alexa Cole ‘26, Sophia Collum ‘26, Ashley Hildebrandt ‘26, Erin Lapides ‘25, Isabella Alonso Navarro ‘25, Jen Mena ‘24, Stella Runyan ‘26, Angelica Salazar ‘24, Gabi Schneider ‘25, Chloe Siddons ‘26, and Meaghan Sullivan ‘25.
Ms. Kowalsky also recognized Celestina Schmid ‘25, Delilah Hickson-Bilotta ‘26, and Sofia Solares ‘27, who are dedicated members of the dance program but were unable to participate in the performance.
Many thanks to the performing arts department, specifically Mr. Alexander, Mrs. Kreiness, and Ms. Merola, and Jesse Baron ‘26 for help with lighting.
