Students builing a molecule in chemistry

Sixth graders visited Kensico Dam and Plaza for a multi-faceted field trip that touched on science and history. They walked up 200 steps to the top of the dam and over it for an incredible view. Students also had the opportunity to see "The Rising," a memorial in honor of 9/11. After they explored the plaza, students worked together to complete an educational hunt to find historical facts located all around the park.

Students returned to the classroom to work on building their own dams and will soon be ready to test them out.

"The trip was a great opportunity for students to learn and experience a cross-curricular lesson in science and history from the monuments in our own community," said Middle School teacher Angela. Pignataro.
