Last week, a Newline interactive monitor was installed in the chemistry lab in the Middle School building, replacing the SMART Board. The Newline monitors offer a high performance interactive display solution that has seamless integration with Google Apps. One monitor was already in use in the Study Hall.

Key features of the new monitors are high-resolution displays which ensure visuals are clear and engaging for all students, Smart Technology with access to educational apps, streaming services, and content-specific platforms that offer interactive and multimedia resources, and connectivity so teachers can connect laptops and tables to the monitor for seamless presentations and demonstrations.

"It increases accessibility to the content for all students in a variety of ways," says science teacher Nicole Tantillo. "Teachers can seamlessly access apps and online content, annotate in real time, and save their writings and class notes to share with students, all without additional software or even the use of a separate computer. I see these monitors as an additional tool for teachers and students to further engage with the course material and support our current teaching practices," Ms. Tantillo says.

Senior science teacher Bruce Osborne adds, "The new display in the chemistry room is a significant upgrade in terms of functionality and ease of use. There is no longer a bad seat in the room," he says, adding, "New classroom technology certainly does not change the central tenets of a discipline. However, it most definitely supports and enhances the lessons while significantly improving the experience for our students."

Harvey's technology department is working on obtaining three additional Newline monitors with the goal of installing them later this year.
