McKensi Forde '24 joined hundreds of seniors around the country on NLI Signing Day Wednesday, Nov. 8 when the top scorer on Harvey's girls varsity basketball put ink to paper on her commitment letter to Post University of Waterbury, Connecticut. On hand to celebrate with McKensi were her family, friends, teammates, and coaches.

McKensi will attend Post and play basketball for the Division II Eagles who compete in the Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CACC). A junior transfer last year to Harvey from Faith Christian Academy in Poughkeepsie, McKensi was the leading scorer on last year’s HVAL championship team. The 2022 NEPSAC All–Star and HVAL All-League selection averaged 15 points per game and scored a team-high total of 359 points. She will join a program that saw the Post Eagles win their third CACC North Division regular season championship last year.

In describing McKensi's basketball skills, Harvey’s assistant athletic director Denis Anautovic says Post is getting a talented player. “McKensi's strength is in the post where her ability to finish with both hands and use her body make her very difficult to guard,” said Mr. Arnautovic. “She sees the court well and often assists her teammates for easy buckets, and defensively 'Kensi' rules the paint by communicating and rebounding,” he added. Mr. Arnautovic, the boys varsity basketball coach and McKensi’s volleyball coach, said the Post commit has all the intangibles a college program desires. “McKensi’s a very talented, passionate, and hardworking player who puts the team first,” he said, adding, “Her attitude is what separates her from others, always ready to play and compete.”

McKensi said signing her letter of commitment means a lot to her. “It means that all the time and money and pain and hard work and everything else wasn’t for nothing,” she said, adding, “I owe it to my incredible support system who always encouraged me – my family, my elite trainer, and my AAU coaches.” McKensi said she’s looking forward to learning more about the game of basketball at the collegiate level “and having fun and becoming a better player on and off the court.”

An honor student taking two AP courses in her senior year, McKensi expects to major in biology at Post.
