The Harvey School community came together Feb. 5 to celebrate Founders Day during morning meeting, honoring the vision and legacy of Harvey’s founders, Dr. Herbert and Mabel Carter.

The meeting was hosted by Student Council co-presidents and seniors Sara Strnad and Steve Lui, who guided the program with energy and school spirit. Adding to the excitement, Steve dressed as the Harvey Cavalier, and his infectious smile spread to all.

The celebration opened with an uplifting performance of "Here Comes the Sun" by the Harvey Upper School Chorus, led by Mr. Norman. Head of School Mr. Knauer engaged students by quizzing them on fun and interesting facts about the school’s founders before continuing a beloved Harvey tradition: the cutting of the Founders Day cake by the two youngest sixth graders, Daphne and Angler. They also enjoyed the first slice of the cake!

The Harvey Upper School Chorus performed “Lovely Day," setting a joyful tone for the remainder of the day, but not before we closed the celebration with the annual spirit contest to determine which grade had the most Harvey pride. Once again, the Middle School claimed victory. Led by Assistant Head of School Ms. Feighery, middle schoolers gave it 110% with their enthusiasm, chants, and cheers. Upper School Dean Mr. Forde made a valiant effort to rally the four Upper School grades in hopes of dethroning the Middle School, but his plea fell short. The Middle School reigned supreme once again as the division with the most Harvey spirit.

The cake was later shared with the entire student body during lunch, allowing everyone to take part in the celebration. With all divisions in attendance, Founders Day was a joyful opportunity for the Harvey community to reflect on its history and celebrate together.
