Junior Rangers Youth Hockey Program at Harvey School

Last Thursday, May 16, marked the conclusion of a successful 10-week Learn-to-Play program hosted by the New York Junior Rangers at Evarts Rink on The Harvey School campus. The program, designed to introduce hockey to children ages 5 to 10, provided a comprehensive introduction to the sport, covering all aspects of the game.

The young, aspiring hockey players were given a special treat as they were joined by six-time Stanley Cup winner and New York Rangers alumni, Glenn Anderson. Mr. Anderson's presence was a highlight for the participants, adding a touch of professional excellence to their learning experience.

The program was led by two of Harvey's own hockey players, Ryan Cuddy '27 and Dylan Cuddy '27, along with Harvey Hockey alum and Director of Alumni Relations Greg Janos '98, and other local youth hockey coaches and players. Their dedication and expertise helped guide the young players through the fundamentals of hockey, ensuring a fun and educational experience for all involved.

The Junior Rangers initiative aims to grow the sport by providing new players with the skills and knowledge necessary to enjoy hockey, fostering a new generation of enthusiasts and potential stars. The involvement of experienced players and alumni highlights the program's commitment to high-quality training and mentorship.

As the program wrapped up, the future of youth hockey looked bright, with the young participants eager to continue their journey in the sport. The Harvey School is thrilled to continue our partnership with the New York Junior Rangers and looks forward to nurturing more young hockey talents in the seasons to come.
