On the evening of Tuesday, April 8, the Walker Center for the Arts came alive with music during Harvey’s annual Spring Chorus Concert. Featuring the Middle and Upper School choruses, the Chamber Singers, and even a few faculty members, the concert highlighted the breadth of talent and musical enthusiasm within our community.
The Middle School Chorus opened with a unique and heartwarming “audience chorus,” inviting family and friends to join in singing the uplifting spiritual “Yonder Come Day.” Their set continued with crowd favorites like “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz, “Die with a Smile,” and “Thank You for the Music.”
A special moment came from the students in the class, Broadway: A Musical Journey. In their studies, they have been tracking the artistic development of the uniquely American art form known as the Broadway Musical, allowing the students to sing some of the classic old songs. Quinn Borzoni ‘27, Delilah Hickson-Bilotta ‘26, and Mollie Weisberger ‘26 performed “Play a Simple Melody” from "Watch Your Step" (1914) and Gabi Schneider ‘25 performed “So in Love” from "Kiss Me, Kate" (1948) — transporting the audience to the golden age of musical theater.
The Chamber Singers brought rich harmonies and nostalgic charm to the stage with renditions of “Blue Skies” by Irving Berlin, the iconic “Mr. Sandman,” and a stirring arrangement of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge over Troubled Water.”
The Upper School Chorus delivered a dynamic and memorable performance, energizing the crowd with “Mr. Blue Sky,” the heartfelt classic “I’ll Be There,” and closing their set with the powerhouse anthem “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
The evening concluded with a show-stopping finale as the Middle and Upper School choruses came together to perform ABBA’s “Dancing Queen,” leaving the audience and the performers beaming with pride.
