The Harvey Robotics Program continued its remarkable season as Team 6277B, also known as One Pancake, competed at the Wildcats Invitational VEX State Qualifier at Rye Country Day School Saturday, Jan. 11. Team 6277B comprises seniors Dan Wood, Logan Alexander, and sophomore Jack Zimmerman. Although Logan could not attend this event, the team continued its winning momentum.
Team 6277B built on their earlier success in their second regional event of the season, where they had gone undefeated and earned a tournament championship. On Saturday, the team powered through qualifications with a 5-1 record and dominated the playoffs, culminating in a decisive victory in the finals to claim the title of Tournament Champions once again.
Adding to their accolades, Dan and Jack were presented with the Excellence Award — the highest honor at the event. This prestigious recognition highlights their outstanding Engineering Journal, stellar engineering interview, and exceptional coding skills, further cementing their reputation as a top-tier robotics team.
Coach Chris Kelly expressed immense pride in the team’s accomplishments while acknowledging Logan Alexander’s significant contributions to the group’s success. “First off, let me say we missed Logan," Coach Kelly said. "Logan designed and built the team’s robot — currently in its second iteration, and he’s actively working on a third version through CAD and hands-on building Logan, Dan, and Jack are an amazing team and are rightfully recognized as one of the top teams in the country. As a unit, Logan designs and builds, Dan codes and drives, and Jack maintains an exceptionally high-quality Engineering Journal. They are on a march toward the state championship and a bid for the world championship in Dallas. It’s an exciting run, and I could not be prouder of these young men,” concluded Coach Kelly.
With another tournament victory and the Excellence Award under their belts, Team 6277B is building serious momentum as they head toward the state championship. Their focus, skill, and teamwork set the stage for a potential bid to compete on the world stage at the VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas.
The Harvey School Robotics Program continues to shine, exemplifying the creativity, dedication, and excellence at the heart of the school’s mission.
