Harvey Robotics teams 6277A, 6277B, and 6277C were in action on Saturday, Jan. 24, at New Rochelle High School, competing in the New Ro Robotics Rumble. The event featured 48 teams from across the region, including strong programs from Rye Country Day School, Greenwich Academy, The Hewitt School, Kennedy Catholic, and New Rochelle High School.

The day proved to be a banner one for Harvey Robotics. After the qualification rounds, Team 6277C posted an impressive 6-0 record and finished in first place overall. Team 6277B also went undefeated at 6-0, earning the fourth seed, while Team 6277A — led by senior Henry He competing in his first-ever tournament as a solo team — finished a strong 10th.

The elimination rounds showcased Harvey’s depth and consistency. Team 6277A advanced to the quarterfinals before falling in a hard-fought match against Team 6277B. In a thrilling final match, Team 6277B defeated Team 6277C to claim the tournament championship, giving Harvey Robotics both the tournament champion and finalist honors.

In addition to their on-field success, Harvey teams were also recognized for their engineering excellence. Team 6277B earned their third consecutive Design Award, highlighting their outstanding robot design process and documentation, while Team 6277C took home the Innovate Award for their creative and effective engineering solutions.

With strong performances across all teams — especially a standout debut by Team 6277A — the New Ro Robotics Rumble was a highly successful competition for Harvey Robotics, setting an exciting tone for the rest of the season.

“I couldn’t be more proud of what all three teams accomplished today,” said c coach Chris Kelly. “Every student showed preparation, resilience, and professionalism from the first match to the last. Seeing Team 6277A compete so confidently, and watching 6277B and 6277C perform at such a high level, is a testament to the hard work they have all put in this season. I also want to recognize senior Wyatt Bland, who has firmly established himself as one of the elite drivers in the state. He continues to elevate everyone around him.”

Coach John Wahlers added, “What stood out to me was the teamwork on display throughout the day. The teams supported one another, and competed with confidence. It’s rewarding to see the students’ hard work in the lab translate so clearly into success on the field.”
