Convocation Opens New School Year
On September 6, Head of School Bill Knauer formally opened the 2023-24 school year with Harvey's formal convocation ceremony. The tradition dates back to the founding of The Harvey School in 1916. The word "convocation" comes from the Latin word convocare, "to convene or come together," and for 107 years the Harvey community has come together to fulfill our mission:
Our purpose is to prepare and inspire students to become independent, adventurous thinkers and engaged, compassionate citizens in courageous pursuit of knowledge and truth.
Mr. Knauer recognized all the new faculty members and new students joining the Harvey community and asked all to welcome them into the community.
Mr. Knauer held the gavel and formally opened the new school year for Middle and Upper School students. The head then handed the gavel over to the Student Council leaders who will then preside over morning meetings during the school year.
The 2023-24 school year is officially open!
