Harvey Middle School theater students had a special guest in Lasdon Theater on Feb. 11 — Beth Falcone, the composer and lyricist of the musical "Wanda’s World." The Middle School winter musical will be performing "Wanda’s World" Feb. 21. Ms. Falcone met with the cast during her visit, sharing insights about the creation of "Wanda’s World" and answering students’ questions about the musical.
The young performers then had the exciting opportunity to showcase some of their choreography for her. Her visit took place just before rehearsal, allowing the students to carry her inspiration directly into their performances.
"Wanda’s World" is a heartfelt and energetic musical about Wanda Butternut, a 12-year-old girl who is starting a new school while dealing with a noticeable birthmark on her face. She dreams of fitting in and being accepted, but she fears being judged. As she navigates friendships, self-acceptance, and the pressures of middle school, she ultimately discovers that being true to herself is the key to finding her place in the world. The musical is a fun, uplifting story about confidence, kindness, and embracing what makes us unique, and we can't wait to see Harvey middle schoolers put on this performance!
With opening night fast approaching, the Harvey Middle School cast are energized and ready to bring "Wanda’s World" to life. Many thanks to our Choir Director William Norman for arranging this exciting visiting artist session.
