Harvey's seventh and eighth grade art classes had the unique opportunity Jan. 27 to meet comic book writer and editor Paul Castiglia via Zoom. With a career spanning more than 30 years, Mr. Castiglia has worked on numerous iconic titles, including "Sonic the Hedgehog," "Archie’s Weird Mysteries," and the "Archie Americana Series." In addition to his contributions to the comic book industry, he has also worked with Mattel as a writer for packaging and marketing.
During his virtual visit, Mr. Castiglia shared insights into the many diverse career paths available to artists, emphasizing creativity and adaptability in the ever-evolving world of storytelling. His discussion aligned perfectly with the middle schoolers' current unit on creating their own superheroes, offering inspiration and real-world perspectives on the art of character development and storytelling.
The visit was an exciting opportunity for our younger students to learn from an industry professional, sparking creativity and reinforcing the idea that there are endless possibilities for those passionate about art and writing.
