Read All About it

Senior Bridge students recently welcomed Harvey alumnus Sam Shah ’90 as a guest speaker, gaining an inside look at the music industry and the many paths a career can take.
Speaking to three classes of seniors in the Alumni Barn, Sam shared stories from his remarkable career, which has included working in A&R at ATO Records and artist management for acclaimed musicians including Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and Ray LaMontagne. Today, he serves as Head of Artist Relations at Tipify, continuing to work at the intersection of artists, business, and the evolving music industry.
During his visit, Sam spoke candidly about his career journey and the experiences that helped shape his path—from his time at Harvey to building a career in a highly competitive and constantly changing industry. He discussed the importance of entrepreneurship, taking opportunities when they arise, building meaningful relationships, and understanding what it takes to turn an interest or passion into a career.
For Senior Bridge students, the conversation offered more than a glimpse into the music business. Sam's story demonstrated the value of staying curious, taking risks, and remaining open to unexpected opportunities as they begin considering their own futures beyond Harvey.
Thank you, Sam, for taking the time to speak with our seniors. We were so happy to have you back on campus!
