Harvey School News
Two Middle School robotics teams traveled to East Rockaway, N.Y. December 8 and captured two titles: the Robot Skills Championship and the Excellence Award.
Competing for the first time were Eli Birch, Lucien Fried, Logan Alexander, and Julien Van Den Tol. The team had an excellent showing for the teamwork competition. They finished 10th out of 43 teams and advanced to the finals where they tied for 4th place.
The veteran team of Marley Shyer, Annissa Khanna, Avery Kahn, and rookie Kevin Li continue to excel. For the first time, The Harvey School team competed in the tournament's robot skills portion made up of two separate, smaller events -- the driver skills portion and the autonomous portion where the robot is working on its own using a program developed by the students.
The team's programmer is Kevin Li, and due to his hard work since joining the team after Thanksgiving, the team walked away with the Robot Skills Championship. This award, combined with the stellar showing of the team's journal, their interview, and their 2nd-place finish overall in the teamwork portion of the event, allowed them to once again bring home the Excellence Award. So far this season no other team that Harvey has competed against has taken home this award against us.
The Middle School RoboCavs will be back in action Sunday, January 6 with three or four new teams competing.
