Getting Started with eHarvey Distance Learning

Even though we are physically separated, we are still connected.

We have been hard at work preparing academic plans to teach virtually using our eHarvey Distance Learning platform. Class pages on our website will serve as the communication hub for academics as faculty and students engage regularly using Zoom to create virtual classrooms. We will no doubt encounter some bumps in the road as we begin this new educational journey, but just know that as always, we are here for our students and families to pave the way for a rewarding spring semester despite challenges we face.

Getting Started with Zoom

Here are the steps to get started using Zoom:

Create a Zoom Account (Optional for Students)

Browse to www.zoom.us
Click on the “Signup, It’s Free” button
Click on “Sign in with Google”
Enter you Harvey email and password
You will be taken to your Dashboard screen

- Click on the “Resources” button on the top-right of the Dashboard Screen

Installing Zoom Client

Click here for instructions and links to download the Zoom client for your desktop computer, tablet, Chromebook, or phone.

Note: Zoom meeting links bring you to a screen that will offer the ability to open the meeting in your browser only. You do not need the client software or a Zoom account to participate. Zoom client software offers additional functionality, convenience, and performance. Installing the browser extension for Zoom is optional but highly recommended.

Accessing Zoom from a Calendar or Email Link

Click on the link in the invite or Calendar entry;
The Zoom app will start or;
Click on the “Start from your browser” link pr;
Click on Download and Run Zoom
- Follow the directions to install Zoom

Upper School Schedule

The Upper School will follow the schedule below for the first two weeks of school following spring break:

Faculty will continue to post work and resources on their individual class pages on this website. The time blocks noted above are opportunities for each teacher to connect specifically with their students in the slots noted. If a teacher uses the slot, they will send out an electronic invitation to a Zoom meeting.

Middle School Schedule

The Middle School will follow the schedule below for week 1 of our Distance Learning program:

Class webpages will be updated each Monday morning with assignments and expectations for the upcoming week. Webpages will also include guidance about how to participate in online chats and discussions related to the weekly activities. In addition to online discussions and chats, real-time class meetings will take place through Zoom. Each class session will not necessarily run for an hour, but this schedule provides an opportunity for students to structure their day and set aside time to focus on specific subjects.
