The Harvey School’s athletic department has named the top female and male student athletes of the winter term. Sophomores Lily Wang and Brian Cicero have been selected as the school’s top student athletes for the winter sports season.
Lily, an international student from China who played forward on this year’s girls varsity basketball team, was a dominant force under the boards. Lily served as the Lady Cavs most consistent low post player, often among the leaders in rebounds and blocked shots.
“Lily has shown tremendous growth in her short time playing basketball and we look forward to her continued contributions to the girls varsity program,” said Director of Athletics Patrick Kennedy in making the announcement Thursday. Lily also excelled in the classroom, making the Head’s List by recording a 3.75 GPA.
Brian was a first-year defensive player on the varsity hockey team that earned a second seed in the Fairchester Athletic Association playoffs before losing in the semifinals. Brian and his teammates on defense held the opposition to an average of three goals per game. “He was able to shut down many of the top scorers in the
Mr. Kennedy said the athletic and academic success of Lily and Brian “epitomizes what we look for in our student athletes here at Harvey.”
This spring Brian will play baseball while Lily will try her hand at tennis.
