Meet Our New Faculty and Staff

We are happy to announce the addition of many outstanding new faculty and staff members to our Harvey community. We are fortunate to have them on board for the 2017-18 academic year, and look forward to the energy and enthusiasm that they will bring to Harvey this year.

Joining our faculty are:

Amy Baxter will be teaching 9th and 11th grade English in the Upper School. She has a BA in English and Secondary Education from Franklin Pierce University, and a Masters in Education from Boston University. Amy has a large vegetable garden and a kitten named Poppy.

Jessica Bottalico will be teaching digital photo, yearbook, graphic design, design studio and art lab. She received her BFA from MICA and her MFA in painting from Rutgers. She paints and does ceramics, and has a scrappy dog named Charlie.

Matthew Eccher will be teaching geometry, algebra II, and pre-calculus this year. He has a BS in Mathematics from Loyola University Maryland and has previously worked as a math instructor for Mathnasium. Matthew hosted his own comedy radio show on Loyola’s radio station, is a big football fan, loves Italian food and "Game of Thrones."

Julian Egolf will be teaching 6th and 7th grade math. He has an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a JD from New England Law Boston. He practiced law for several years in Massachusetts before teaching, and has taught students from age 6 to 19. Julian enjoys basketball, ultimate, soccer, and dogs, as well as board games, trivia and making stained glass art.

Simon Leibovic will be teaching physics, honors physics, and freshmen trajectories. He studied Chemistry at Manhattan College and did his graduate work in Adolescent Science Education at PACE University. He enjoys cooking and practicing yoga.

Maria Ma will be teaching all sections of Latin I in the Middle School and Upper School this year. She graduated from Wesleyan University (CT)  with a double major in Studio Art and Classics, and a minor in Archaeology because she loves art, dead things, and languages, all of which she hopes to incorporate into her classes. She stress bakes and stress builds furniture from scratch.

Alexandra Matthews will be teaching Spanish in the Upper School and will also serve as assistant girls varsity soccer coach. She received her BA from Vassar College where she double majored in English and Italian, and had a minor in Hispanic Studies. She earned two Masters degrees at Middlebury, one in Spanish and another in Italian. She has taught English in Italy and Spain, and is looking forward to traveling abroad with Harvey students.

Jillian McCoy is the new Harvey librarian. She will be working to support faculty instruction, teach research skills, promote information literacy, and encourage a love of reading for students. She has a BA in History from Texas State University and a Masters of Library Science degree from Queens College. She loves reading, writing, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her wife and terrier.

Pilar Menacho, who’s full name is Maria del Pilar Garibaldi Casalino de Menacho, will be teaching Spanish this year. She was born in Peru and has been a translator in English, Spanish and French. She loves to travel, meet wonderful people, and learn about fascinating cultures. She is married with a daughter and son, and a beagle named Brownie.

Danielle Meyer is the new Middle School and Upper School Learning Specialist. She has a BS in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a Masters of Science in Special Education from Nova Southeastern University. She enjoys going to Giants games, watching the Yankees or Miami Hurricanes, going to the gym, trying out new restaurants, and family time with her husband and two young sons.

Joining our administration and staff are:

Jim Skrip is the new Director of Finance and Operations and Stephanie McCaine is the new Director of Middle School Admissions. Both are currently Harvey parents as well.

Karen Grazia came on board as Director of Communications, Laurie Cohen started late last academic year as the Young Alumni Coordinator, and Robert Partelow joined our Buildings & Grounds department.
