The Harvey School has announced the names of the students who have earned recognition for achievement in Latin.
Sophomore Sanath Kumar earned magna cum laude recognition for his score on the 2017 National Latin Exam administered annually to more than 150,000 Latin students across the country. Junior Sarah McLean received a certificate of merit for matching the national average.
Sophomore Sophia Scarsella earned a “Best in School” for Scribo, an international Latin short story composition contest sponsored by Ascanius: The Youth Classics Institute. Juniors Lily Tarshis and Kylene Groff also participated in Scribo and received certificates.
Latin teacher Samantha Saraniti was pleased to announce the achievements of her students. “They deserve a lot of credit for taking advantage of the opportunities to demonstrate their high level of skill in Latin,” said Ms. Saraniti.
All Harvey Middle School students study Latin as their language requirement. Upper School students have the option of continuing their study of the classic language.
