Harvey Salutes Staff Milestones
Harvey Salutes Milestones of Staff
Keeping with tradition at its annual welcome back dinner Wednesday evening August 29, The Harvey School honored a number of staff members for the milestones they reached in years of service to the school. Headmaster Barry Fenstermacher introduced the honorees and acknowledged their individual contributions and length of service. The Chair of The Harvey School’s Board of Trustees, Eileen Walker, presented each of them with a gift.
Headmaster Fenstermacher said recognizing the individual milestones is an important part of Harvey tradition. “Our faculty and staff are the all-important human face to our adventure in excellence at Harvey,” the Headmaster said. “They enjoy great role models in those who have long tenure here, which is not always true in other schools,” he added.
The staff member reaching the highest milestone of 40 years of service is Head of Maintenance, Goncalo Pinheiro. Mr. Pinheiro, who had two children graduate Harvey, had come to the school upon his arrival from Portugal in 1972. He has also long-served as a volunteer member of the Katonah Fire Department.
Honored for his 35 years of service was Tim Stark, the chair of the Classics and Modern Language Department. Mr. Stark, who teaches Latin, has also enjoyed a long and successful tenure as an athletic coach. His four sons graduated from Harvey.
Two staff members were recognized for 30 years of service. They are Julia Beck, the Headmaster’s secretary, and Carole Bonicelli, the Chair of the Fine Arts Department.
English Department Chair Dianne Mahony was recognized for her 25 years of service. Mrs. Mahony teaches junior and senior English, including the College Board’s Advanced Placement course.
Honored for their 15 years of service were Technology Director John Wahlers, Middle School history teacher, Doug Plaskett, and Evarts Rink Registrar Dale Osborne.
Rounding out the list of honorees are those who have reached the 10 year mark. They are Sally Breckenridge, Alumni Relations Director, Kathy Cushman, Upper School/Middle School Choral Director, Joanne Lombardi, Middle School Director of Administrative Services, Lee Robinson, Director of Food Services, Elizabeth Visintainer, Upper School Dean of Students, and Jeannine Young, the BusinessOffice’s assistant bookkeeper.
The ceremony was held in the Lasdon Black Box Theater before the entire school staff and the Board of Trustees.
