How did it start?

In the summer of 2006, The Harvey School piloted its first online summer school session. We started with a small group of students, an exceptional teacher and the best technology available. Today, we are in our 4th year of providing a quality summer school product to our own school community and students across the country.

What makes Harvey different from other online schools?

There are many online schools out there, but Harvey is different. We have taken the best of both worlds…the flexibility provided by cutting-edge technology and the support provided by a caring exceptional teacher. Other online schools only allow students to communicate to their teachers through email, blogging, forums and chat. Imagine trying to learn a complex mathematical solution through a chat? Harvey’s online school has a virtual classroom with a whiteboard, chat, and audio to offer students a truly interactive classroom experience from the comfort of their homes…or anywhere else there is an Internet connection!

How does it work?

Our online school combines three different complementary technologies to provide the most robust, flexible and supportive online learning experience available. All of our technologies are compatible and user-friendly. We use:

• a content management system where students can access all class materials, assignments, schedules, and all applicable information
• an online curriculum that provides an interactive learning experience with animations, text, audio, assignments, glossaries, and assessments where the results are fed back to the teacher
• an online classroom where students meet with the teacher and other classmates for review sessions, extra-help and guidance
