The first half was notable in that there were no penalties called on either team.
In the third quarter, Bieder scored his second to bring GFA within one, but that was as close as the Dragons got. Schulman notched his second for Harvey in the third and added another in the fourth for a hat-trick, and Hickey blasted his third for a hat-trick of his own. Harvey Edges Watkinson 1-0 in Baseball
Harvey and Watkinson hooked up in a classic pitcher’s duel Saturday but the Cavaliers squeaked by with a 1-0 win. Harvey’s lone run came in the 3rd inning on a wild pitch scoring Corey Eisenband.

Chavkin got the save as he closed out the game, allowing only one hit while striking out three and walking one.
Watkinson’s biggest threat came in the 1st inning when they had the bases loaded with one out. Shubert then struck out the #5 hitter and induced a ground ball to the following batter, allowing Harvey to escape that early jam. Mike Morra. Jesse Zubren, and Corey Eisenband had the hits for Harvey.
Harvey will look to get their bats going and pick up another win when they host the New York Military Academy on Wednesday afternoon, May 2.
Harvey Baseball Loses to Forman
Forman @Harvey 4/25/12
Harvey’s varsity baseball team dropped a 9-2 decision to Forman Wednesday. Things started off well for Harvey in their first at-bat when the Cavaliers took the early lead Mike Morra singled, stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Corey Eisenband, and scored on a passed ball.
It was a short-lived lead for Harvey as Forman battled back in the bottom of the first and scored four runs. Harvey pushed another run across the plate in the 2nd inning on a sacrifice fly by Jason Ecker scoring Will Schubert. Those two runs would be it for the Cavaliers as their bats went quiet the rest of the way. Two more Forman runs came home in the second inning as the visitors stroked a couple of hits and capitalized on some sloppy defense by Harvey.
Harvey scored again in the 2nd inning on a sacrifice fly by Jason Ecker scoring Will Schubert. Jesse Zubren, the starting pitcher for Harvey, gave up eight runs, but only four were earned. He allowed six hits, walked two, and struck out two. Mike Chavkin relieved Zubren and gave up a run on two hits in two innings.

Harvey Rugby Loses to Fordham Prep
Fordham Prep @ Harvey – April 25, 2012
Harvey’s rugby team put up a good fight Wednesday, but it was the visiting team from Fordham Prep that came out victorious, 32-19.
The match was intense from the opening whistle and the first half saw both squads capitalize on a number of scoring chances. On the opening kickoff, Sam Seham nailed the Fordham player and it led to an infraction against Prep. Billy Stapleton converted from 18 meters to give Harvey a three-point lead. Seven minutes later, Prep responded with some nice open field running and dotted down for an unconverted score.
In the 11th minute, Stapleton converted again to give Harvey a one point lead., but Prep responded again for a try to recapture the lead in the 14th minute. Fordham looked to pull away with a nice break through Harvey’s backline to make the score Prep 15 Harvey 6.
Following another Stapleton penalty, Harvey had Prep pinned deep. Off a Prep lineout, Castleton broke through the line and blocked the clearance kick. Seham found glory in the try zone, and after Stapleton’s conversion, Harvey led by one point.
After some more heavy hitting, Prep was able to break through twice more, giving them a halftime lead of 27 to 16.
The second half saw plenty of quality action. A Stapleton penalty narrowed the deficit to 8 points with 29 minutes left. For the next 21 minutes, the match remained deadlocked. JD Schneider and Sam Seham just missed scoring opportunities. The Cavaliers battled hard but could not find points. A late Prep try sealed the match with the final score.
Harvey Coach Phil Lazzaro called Prep is “a quality club,” but he was pleased with the efforts of his players. “Their play was solid and consistent, Coach Lazzaro said. “ Lineouts, scrummaging and rucking were all well executed,” he added.
Harvey’s second side team ran hard but fell 29 to 5 to Prep as well.
